"Lots of people talk to animals," said Pooh.
"Maybe, but..."
"Not very many people listen, though," he said.
"That's the problem," he added.- from "The Tao of Pooh"
Sometimes I can feel eyes upon me, and when I turn around, I find The Fluff watching me. When I look into his eyes, it feels like I am looking into the vast expanses of time, stretching on forever. It is as if all of the wisdom of all of the great teachers in all the world that have ever lived or will live, are contained behind those amber eyes.
Sometimes I feel like he is looking down upon me, (though I am much taller than him), as a teacher does student. Looking down upon me with a powerful wisdom and understanding of the nature of the universe that is so far beyond my grasp. Looking at me, as if he knows that I know this, which makes him all the more wise.
"Not very many people listen, though," that is indeed the problem.
So teach me, oh Wise One. Teach me the nature of the simplemind.
So teach me, oh Wise One. Teach me the nature of life.
