No, that is not a sexual innuendo. I have a pet snake and last night she escaped.
Opi Snake has lived with me for almost ten years. I have had her from the time she was an itty-bitty worm of a snake that my dad gave to me for x-mas in a jewelry box. What a surprise that was! Especially since I thought I was getting a boring piece of jewelry. I am a werid girl. She is now quite a bit bigger (about 3 feet long) so she isn't so easily lost.
In our decade together Opi has made escape attempts before. She used to be very crafty at it actually. She would wedge her whole little body along the edge of the cage door at the top, and slowly roll over the edge so that her body would push the lid off. Clever.
This attempt however was not so crafty, but rather she took advantage of a fortunate situation. As I was cleaning out her cage last night, I got distracted by a phone call and left the lid off. Then I forgot about it and went on with my evening.
Then as I was getting ready for bed I noticed the lid askew. "Oh this could be bad..." was my thought as I peered inside the empty cage. She had had about 2 hours to get out and go who knows where.
So where does a snakey go when she acquires her freedom? Crawl into the AC vents? (my biggest fear since her cage sits next too the main air return) Make a break for the bathroom? Go play with the kitty? No. She crawls under the tight 1/2 space under her terrarium and chills out. She's not much of an adventurist I guess.
