1 Fish, 2 Fish... Part 2

Sigh...so this has been a tough week in the lives of the critters in the glass box. I have spent the past week researching fish care, fish illness, fish recipes (just kidding) and I swear, if they can have it, my fish got it.

The poor things were not too good starting out, as they were victims of intense trauma, and stress. All of the basic "stressed out fish" signs were there. Then within two days a few of them started showing signs of Ich, a very common fish illness that happens to 98% of fish at some point in their lives (especially if they did not come from a decent fish store). But I was prepared, because my research said to have some Ich meds and Aquarium salt on hand in case of this.

So I gave them all a salt dip to kill the bacteria and was doing the suggested water changes and adding the Ich meds for the whole week and the Ich started to clear up and the fishes started to look and act better.

Then I came home Friday night and one of them had died. =( So I did an emergency water change as recommended. (This is at 2:30 in the morning mind you, after I returned from a bday party.) And then when I woke up the next morning, another one had bit the dust. Then another one gone, and another one this morning.

They were all the littlest fish. I think that between the shock, stress, and illness they just couldn't take it. Jon thinks I have a fish murderer. I say it is Bubbles. That one likes to chase the others around and nip at them. Maybe they got nipped to death. Jerk fish.

So I am down to 7 (7 is a lucky number right...) and hoping that the rest will make it through the week. Two of them have Fin Rot, another common fishy illness due to stress. Poor things. I have meds for that now. What I really need is some fishy Prozac. =/
